Wardine Alexander "As a product of the Birmingham City Schools System and a graduate of Wenonah High School, I understand the challenges that can be encountered in an urban school setting. The expectations of our education system should be no different than any other in this state. Through my leadership on the Birmingham Board of Education, I believe together we can create a successful education system for all students in District 7 to succeed in life."

Accomplishments During My Term

  • System-wide AdvancED accreditation for all schools
  • Attained financial stability
  • Decreased number of schools listed on the state’s list of “failing schools”
  • Expanded Dual learning programs and Career Academies throughout the District
  • Voter approved property tax increase to provide more band/fine arts programs and additional Pre-K classrooms
  • Added 5 additional classes to accept all Pre-K students waiting to enroll for the 2017-2018 school year
